I've never ridden an asym heel edge, nor a gnu board before with their "magne-traction" thing but OH.MY.GOD! This board is bliss. I've progressed in a few days on this board more than I did in an entire season on a previous all mountain board. I'm definitely sticking with the Gnu Velvet from now on. It has a nice pop and provides some lift off when needed and it sticks its edge soooo well in the slope, it's insane. Loooove this board!
I love this board in the backcountry, groomers & in the park. It super responsive & holds an edge extremely well when I’m dropping in on an exposed face!! Thank you, Mervin, for making the best boards in the world!!
This Velvet board is super fun for riding around the resort! The Magne-traction allows you to have controlled and powerful turns. If you mostly ride the resort but are looking to have something that works well in the park, this board is great! The flex level is perfect for jumping onto boxes or rails, and gives you a nice pop on jumps.
This board has the perfect stiffness for charging in the park, and the asymmetrical heel edge makes turning so easy and quick. It took me a little while to get used to the asymmetry, but once I did it was a real game changer for me. I feel like I’m carving more aggressively and graceful than on any other board.
